 Why Exercise Is Essential

ACLM defines regular physical activity as a therapeutic tool for preventing, treating, and even reversing chronic disease. From cardiovascular health to mental clarity, movement impacts nearly every system in the body.

Here’s what consistent exercise supports:
-  Improved heart health and circulation
-  Enhanced mood, memory, and cognitive function
-  Lower risk of diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers
-  Better sleep quality and stress resilience
-  Reduced inflammation and oxidative stress

In short: movement is medicine. And it’s available to everyone.

What Does “Enough” Look Like?

ACLM and allied guidelines recommend:
150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week
  (e.g., brisk walking, cycling, dancing)
OR 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity per week
  (e.g., running, HIIT, fast-paced sports)
Muscle-strengthening activities at least 2 days per week
  (e.g., resistance training, bodyweight exercises, yoga)

But here’s the truth: *any* movement is better than none. Even light activity—like stretching, walking the dog, or gardening—can shift your physiology toward healing.
